Frequently asked questions
Wegovy
Yes. Jan Medical Group offers Wegovy FlexTouch, and it is currently in stock. Wegovy is prescribed and monitored by a licensed Jan Medical Group physician after a consultation, available online from anywhere in the Philippines or in clinic at our BGC (Park Triangle Mall, Taguig) and Quezon City (Bengar Building, Del Monte Avenue) branches.
Wegovy is the brand name for semaglutide at doses developed specifically for chronic weight management, made by Novo Nordisk. It is a once-weekly injectable GLP-1 medication that helps reduce appetite and cravings and supports steady, sustained weight loss alongside healthy eating and activity. It comes in a pre-filled FlexTouch pen, and your dose is increased gradually under physician supervision.
Wegovy and Ozempic contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide, and are both made by Novo Nordisk, but they are different products. Wegovy is developed and dosed specifically for chronic weight management, with a maintenance dose of up to 2.4 mg once weekly. Ozempic is developed for blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and uses lower doses. Your physician will advise which is appropriate for your goals and medical history.
Both are once-weekly injections that reduce appetite and support weight loss, but they work slightly differently. Wegovy (semaglutide) acts on the GLP-1 pathway, while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) acts on both the GIP and GLP-1 pathways. Neither is automatically better for everyone: the right choice depends on your medical history, weight goals, how you tolerate side effects and your budget. Your Jan Medical Group physician will explain which one suits you and why.
Wegovy is prescription-only, so you start with a physician consultation. You can book an online consultation for ₱1,500 from anywhere in the Philippines, or an in-clinic consultation for ₱1,600 at our Quezon City branch or ₱1,800 at our BGC branch. If Wegovy is appropriate for you, your physician issues your prescription and sets your starting dose. If you already have a valid Wegovy prescription from another doctor, our team can verify it so you can order without repeating the process.
Wegovy FlexTouch is priced per pen, and the price depends on your prescribed dose, from the 0.25 mg starting dose up to the 2.4 mg maintenance dose. Each pen covers about one month of once-weekly treatment. Current prices for every dose are listed in the Jan Medical Group Cura Shop, and your physician will walk you through the expected cost of your plan during your consultation.
Yes. Once your prescription is confirmed, Wegovy can be delivered nationwide anywhere in the Philippines, or you can pick up your pens at either Jan Medical Group branch: BGC (Park Triangle Mall, Taguig) or Quezon City (Bengar Building, Del Monte Avenue, Brgy. Manresa). We do not ship medication outside the Philippines.
Wegovy is injected once a week, on the same day each week, under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. Treatment starts at 0.25 mg, and the dose is increased step by step, usually every four weeks, until you reach the maintenance dose your physician sets, up to 2.4 mg. This gradual approach helps your body adjust and reduces side effects. Our team will show you how to use your FlexTouch pen at your first visit or during your online consultation.
The most common side effects of Wegovy are digestive: nausea, reduced appetite, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea and occasional vomiting. They are usually mild to moderate and most noticeable in the first weeks or after a dose increase. Eating smaller meals, slowing down and staying hydrated can help. Contact your physician promptly if you have severe or persistent abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, signs of dehydration, changes in vision or an allergic reaction.
Wegovy is generally not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, if you or a family member have had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 syndrome, or if you have a history of pancreatitis or a known allergy to semaglutide. People with certain digestive, kidney, gallbladder or diabetic eye conditions, or who take insulin or other diabetes medicines, need careful review. Your physician screens for all of this during your consultation.
Keep your Wegovy FlexTouch pen in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C, in its original packaging and away from light. Never freeze it, and do not use a pen that has been frozen, even after it thaws. The pen can be kept at room temperature for a limited time, so follow the patient leaflet that comes with it. For delivered orders, refrigerate your pens as soon as they arrive.
Part of the weight lost on Wegovy can come from muscle, which can affect strength and metabolism. You can reduce this by eating enough protein, doing regular strength training and tracking your body composition rather than just your weight. At Jan Medical Group, InBody scans measure muscle and fat separately so your physician can adjust your plan, and Tone Ultra powered by Emsculpt NEO is available if you want in-clinic support for muscle preservation.
Yes, switching to Wegovy is possible, but it should only be done under a physician's guidance. Your Jan Medical Group physician will review your current medication, dose, results and side effects, then decide whether switching makes sense and what Wegovy starting dose is safe for you. Please do not switch or combine medications on your own.
